GBCI India certifies GKNM Hospital

GBCI India certifies GKNM Hospital

GBCI India, part of the U.S. Green Building Council (‘USGBC’) and nation’s foremost authority on sustainability in building design, construction, and operations, has announced that it has awarded GKNM Hospital with the prestigious LEED v4.1 Operations + Maintenance (O+M) Platinum certification. 
This makes it the first project in the Indian healthcare sector to receive Platinum, the highest level of certification offered in this domain. 

Mr. Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan, Managing Director – Southeast Asia & Middle East, GBCI India handed over the LEED certificate to Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of GKNM Hospital in an event recently held in the city. 

The hospital installed energy-efficient lighting in its facilities as a part of its continuing sustainability initiative, resulting in energy savings of more than three lakh units annually.  Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, said, “ Becoming the first project in India's healthcare sector to receive this highest level of certification is a pivotal milestone in our journey. 

It demonstrates not only our dedication to offer the greatest medical treatment to the people, but also our contributions to helping safeguard the environment for a better future. We also thank our president Mr. Pathy and the board of trustees for their continued unwavering support.”
