Govt urged to roll back Power Tariff hike

Cadres of AIADMK Erode Maanagaram District unit staged a demonstration today in Veerapanchatram, ​​Erode, against the hike in electricity tariff by the Tamil Nadu government and pressed it to withdraw it immediately.


The party District Secretary and former minister KV Ramalingam, who led the stird, said that under the AIADMK rule, there was no shortage of electricity and drinking water for the people and  100 units free electricity has been provided. But now electricity charges have been increased drastically. 


In addition people have to pay Rs 60 per month for electricity meters and also  maintenance fee. Powercut is also high. 


During the last AIADMK regime Uratchikottai drinking water project was developed at a cost of Rs 560 crores in Erode. Now, due to lack of proper maintenance people are getting drinking water once in four or five days.
In the last AIADMK regime 5 lakh additional old age pension was provided to the people.

  Now, over 60 percent of pensioners have been denied pension claiming that they have 2 gas cylinders. Actions are being taken to stop  35kg free rice to old age pensioners whose pension was cancelled.


Similarly pensions to many differently abled persons have been stopped. Law and order has been properly maintained under AIADMK rule. 

Now, four days after Kallakurichi school girl's death issue, biggest violence exploded. It shows the inaction of the police. DMK assured to cancel the NEET exam once it came to power. 


But, in the last 14 months, 5 students have died due to the NEET exam, 7 lock up deaths were occurred and ganja sales increased, property, water tax hiked many fold affecting large section of people, he rued. Former minister PC Ramasamy, 


former MLAs KS Tennarasu, Sivasubramaniam, Ex-MP Selvakumara Chinnaian, zonal  secretaries Manokaran, KC Palanichamy, Kesavamurthy, Govindaraj,Thangamuthu, and many officebearers were present.
