The Tamil Nadu government has decided to conduct gram sabha-like meetings in all the local bodies in the state. The meetings – nagar sabha and mahanagar sabha – would take place across the state from November 1.
Every year, gram sabha meetings would be conducted in all the village panchayats for six days on January 26, March 22, May 1, August 15, October 2 and November 1. During such meetings, status of all the works carried out in the locality would be reviewed and all the resolutions that are passed in the meeting would be taken up to the government’s knowledge for implementation.
Similarly, to address the grievances of people residing in semi-urban and urban areas, gram sabha-like meetings would be conducted in other regions, as well. The meetings would be conducted in each ward.The Chief Minister MK Stalin would chair the Mahanagar sabha that is scheduled to take place at ward number 6 at Pammal near Pallavaram in Chennai on November 1.
