Madras High Court on Tuesday denied permission to screen actor Vijay starring ‘Leo’ at 4 am in theaters across the state.
The movie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is getting released on October 19. Silver screen production filed a petition before the court seeking permission to screen a 4 am show exclusively for fans. They also sought permission to screen shows at 7 am instead of 9 am.
The petition came up for hearing before Justice Anitha Sumath on Monday. After hearing both the arguments, she directed officials to produce documents related to the petitions filed against screening the movie at 4 am.
On Tuesday, a public prosecutor argued that law and order problems arose during the early morning show and last time when the government granted permission for screening a movie at 4 am, one person had died.
After hearing the arguments, the court refused to grant permission to screen the movie at 4 am and directed the producing company to approach the state government to change the timing of the first show from 9 am to 7 am.
She also said that safety cannot be compromised for the sake of fans. The producing company petitioned the government who in turn assured them to let them know of their decision before 4 pm on Tuesday.
