Leading the charge on important healthcare initiatives in the area, District Collector Mr. S.
Karmegam called a meeting of the Salem District Health Assembly on Friday at the District
Collectorate emphasising the importance of the third round of the Health Assembly meeting for the
Public Health and Disease Prevention Department.
It may be noted that the Tamil Nadu Health Reform Project, supported by the World Bank, involves
annual health councils in select districts, including Salem. The 2021-2022 District Health Assemly in
Salem involves a consortium of medical officials, local council members, charity founders, and
people's representatives. The council submitted 17th health plan reports and 68 projects to the
State Health Assembly in March 2023.
In the latest 3rd round health assembly meeting in Salem district, convened today, an array of
project reports underwent close scrutiny. Recommendations derived from these discussions will be
forwarded to the state health assembly, culminating in proactive measures aimed at enhancing
public welfare within the Salem district said the District Collector Mr. S Karmegam,
Mettur Assembly Member Mr. S. Sathasivam, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical
College Hospital Dean, Dr.Mani, Deputy Director (Health Services) Dr.S.Saundammal, alongside other
pertinent officers were present.
