The Madras High Court on Tuesday adjourned the AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palanswami’s appeal against the judgement in favour of former chief minister O Panneerselvam to August 25.
On August 17, Justice Jayachandran passed common orders on three petitions filed by Panneerselvam, general council member ‘amman’ Vairamuthu alias P Vairamuthu.
While passing judgement, he made it clear that the general council meeting can only be convened jointly by the coordinator and joint coordinator of the party.
The direction in turn makes the July 11 general council in which Edappadi K Palaniswami was made as interim general secretary of the party invalid and the decision to abolish the posts of coordinator and joint coordinator taken in the July 11 general council meeting also stands cancelled.
He further said that the petitioners could approach the court to form a monitoring commission if they have any disputes in conducting the general council meeting together.
Meanwhile, Panneerselvam has also filed a caveat petition before the court. As Panneerselvam’s counsel sought time to produce his arguments, the division bench comprising Justices M Duraiswamy and Sunder Mohan adjourned the hearing to August 25.
