The Tamilnadu Government is taking efforts to establish an airport in Hosur according to the industrial policy statement tabled in the Tamilnadu assembly today.
The policy statement notes that since Hosurtaluk is emerging as a major industrial hub, Tamilnadu Government has shown interest in establishing an airport there. TIDCO has been given the task of preparing a feasibility report. TIDCO is currently in the process of engaging a consultant for preparing the feasibility report.
The policy statement further notes that the feasibility report for establishing an airport near Chennai has been submitted by the Airport Authorities of India. The effort is aimed at addressing the increasing global air traffic requirements.
Furthermore, the Tamilnadu Governemnt has planned to supply natural gas to 2.28crore households at an outlay of Rs.35,000crore. It has been planned to distribute compressed natural gas in 38 districts through 2,785 sales outlets. Tamilnadu Government has planned to set up new industrial parks in Coimbatore, Perambalur, Madurai, Vellore and Thiruvallur.
In the year 2021-22,out of the 130 memorandums of understanding signed, work has been started in the case of 77 projects.
Tamilnadu’s share in exports of India during 2021-22 is 8.40 percent.
