An interactive program on accident insurance was held yesterday evening under the leadership of Senior Postal Superintendent Arunachalam at Yercaud Post Office, Salem District. The employees of 21 village post offices operating under Yercaud and Ondikkadai sub post office participated in the programme.
Discussion went around the details of accident insurance newly introduced in the postal department. They were told that people in their villages should be told about this insurance and urged to take advantage of it.

10 lakhs accident cover for accidental death, permanent total disability, permanent partial disability, stroke etc. Maximum 60 thousand for inpatient expenses in case of accident, 30 thousand for outpatient expenses, Rs 1 lakh for education expenses of two children of accident victim andRs1000 per day for hospitalization for 9 days.
Family members traveling to see the accident victim will be given a maximum of Rs 25,000 towards travel expenses and Rs 5,000 for funeral rites. A premium of Rs.399 per year is enough to avail such benefits. Post men will digitally register the policy using a smart phone at the door step of the insurer, said Mr. Arunachalam.
