International balloon festival begins in Pollachi

In view of Pongal celebrations, an international balloon festival commenced at Pollachi in the city outskirts on Friday.  Ten giant hot air balloons were brought down from eight countries including Netherland, Brazil and Canada and were let fly in the festival. 

The festival is organized by the Tamil Nadu tourism department in association with private sectors. The festival would go on till January 15.  The giant hot air balloons are in different shapes and are about 60 feet to 100 feet high.  The Tamil Nadu tourism department also let fly a balloon. Tourists from several parts of the country attended the festival.
