International Mother Language Day celebrated

International Mother Language Day (Matribhasha Diwas) celebration was arranged by the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women  on Feb 21  through virtual mode.
Dr. M. Kavitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil welcomed the gathering. Dr. M. Manonmani, Dean, School of Art & Social Sciences delivered the Presidential Address. Dr.Barani, Head (i/c) Dept. of Tamil introduced the chief guest Dr. M. Chidambaram, Associate Professor, Dept. of Tamil, Alagappa Govt. College, Karaikudi.

The chief guest in his Special Address spoke on the topic ‘Importance of Mother Language’.  He talked about the richness of Tamil language. He mentioned that even western scholars have wondered at the wealth of this language and have eulogized it for the typical nuances the language maintains for ages. Dr. S.Jayalakshmi, Assistant Professor of English proposed the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the national anthem. The programme was attended by more than 300 students through online streaming.
