The Indian Pulp & Paper Technical Association (IPPTA) is set to host its Annual General Meeting and Seminar on July 26 and 27 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Coimbatore. The seminar will focus on "Enhancing Efficiency through Electricals, Electronics, Automation & Digital Technology in Pulp & Paper Mills," with presentations by technologists, engineers, and researchers from India and abroad.
The event will bring together over 425 technocrats, including paper technologists, engineers, scientists, and administrators, to discuss advancements and challenges in the paper industry, particularly in replacing single-use plastics with paper. The seminar will open on July 26 at 9:30 AM, with Dr. Sandeep Saxena, IAS, CMD/Additional Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd., inaugurating the event. Mr. Gowthamawn Swarnam, Global Practice Head-Digital at Tata Technologies, Bangalore, will deliver the keynote
address.
The Indian paper industry, with over 850 mills, produces a wide range of papers, including printing, writing, packaging, tissue, and newsprint, totaling over 25 million tonnes annually.
The industry's annual turnover is approximately Rs. 80,000 crores, contributing around Rs. 8,000 crores to the exchequer and providing employment to about 0.5 million people directly and 1.5 million indirectly.
