College Day Celebrations at City College

The 50th golden jubilee college day functions of Kongunadu Arts and Science College was held today. Prof. V.Kamakoti, Director, IIT, Madras was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr.C.A. Vasuki, Secretary & Director and Dr. M.Lekeshmanaswamy, Principal of the college, were also present on the occasion. 

Delivering the College Day Address, Prof. Kamakoti spoke about the rapid strides taken by India in various fields of science and technology. 

Arogya Sethu App

Citing the example of the country’s immensely successful Covid 19 vaccination drive, he said that the Arogya Sethu App was made possible through team work consisting of professionals drawn from different fields such as computer science, electronic engineers, lawyers, and epidemiologists, who made this remarkable digital transformation possible, with the app being ready in a matter of just 21 days. 

He said that the app has been used by around 20 crore people till now. He further added that India’s achievements in the vaccination drive made the world sit up and take notice. Citing another example he pointed out that while the banking system was collapsing in many other countries, we should all take pride in India’s stable banking system, with excellent regulatory framework. Prof. Kamakoti, also urged students of all streams to study data science and gave an overview of the importance of learning the subject. 

‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’

Earlier Dr. Vasuki while delivering the Presidential address stated that the dreams of the college’s founder Dr.Aruchamy were coming true. She mentioned that the devoted students, alumni and teachers were the pillars of the institution. Dr.Vasuki added that she draws her energy from the wave of energy she feels whenever she meets her students. She added that the students are the ones who are going to play a key role in making our country self-reliant as envisaged under the vision of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’. Dr.Lekeshmanaswamy read out the annual report on the occasion.A series of cultural programs marked the event. Earlier, Ms.K.Rakshaya Devi, President Students’ Association, welcomed the gathering.
