A 3-day International Workshop titled CRISPR/Cas9 Technology - An Evolution of the 21st Century: Health and Environmental Sustainability was inaugurated today. Dr. Kalpana Surendranath, Reader in Genome Engineering at the University of Westminster, UK, was the Chief Guest. Dr. CA Vasuki, Secretary and Director of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, and Dr. Sangeetha, Principal of the college, were also present.
The workshop, held from September 9-11, is organised by the PG & Research Department of Biotechnology, KASC, and the Genome Engineering Laboratory, School of Life Sciences, University of Westminster, UK. Addressing the participants, Dr. Vasuki expressed her pride in welcoming Dr. Kalpana Surendranath, an alumna of the college and a graduate of the first batch of Biotechnology students. She wished all participants a productive 3-day learning experience in genome engineering.
Dr. Kalpana Surendranath shared her pride in being an alumna of the institution and praised the foresight of Dr. Aruchami, the visionary founder of KASC, who introduced a Biotechnology course over two decades ago. She credited the college with laying the foundation of her knowledge, which has been instrumental in her achievements.
Earlier, Dr. Vishnupriya, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, delivered the welcome address.
