The Division of Cardiac pacing and Electrophysiology of KMCH hospitals, conducted the 9TH edition of COVAI Heart Rhythm Summit (CHRS) 'EP Update 2024' on Sunday.
Dr.M Lawrance Jesuraj – Organizing Secretary of the Conference said,
this year, like previous years, we had a great academic feast involving more than 50 national faculties of fame and great academic credentials and more than 200 doctors participated in this conference. Catheter ablation for Atrial fibrillation (AF)
is a technique employed to control heart rhythms that are caused by abnormal electrical signals traveling from the pulmonary veins to the atria.
KMCH has acquired state-of-the-art Cryoablation for cardiac arrhythmia management and established Centre of Excellence of Atrial Fibrillation.
Dr. Arun N Palaniswami – Executive Director, KMCH while inaugurating the conference, said there are many obstacles to successfully treating AF Patients Including late diagnosis, delayed referral to AF specialists and poorer treatment. This is where new and specialist AF clinics enter the picture.
Decreased health-care expenditures per patient compared with the usual care, increased cost efficiency, and a lower incidence of AF-related hospitalizations and stroke are some benefits of this innovative
approach.
Dr.Nalla G Palaniswami – Chairman, KMCH explained that, the incidence of arrhythmias will go up because of increasing elderly population.
Abnormal heart rhythm which were not detected earlier are now being picked up due to increasing use of wearable devices.
