Koniamman chariot procession: Muslim community distributed water bottles to the devotees

Members of the Muslim community distributed water bottles to the devotees who took part in the chariot procession of Koniamman temple, in front of Athar Jamaath Masjid in the city on Wednesday. Chariot procession has been part of the annual temple festival. On February 14, temple management hoisted a flag and devotees did firewalking to mark the commencement of the festival.

During the procession, the chariot passed through the streets of Town Hall with thousands of devotees.  Police officials were deployed to prevent untoward incidents.  To ensure devotees did not go thirsty, members of Muslim community distributed water bottles to the devotees. This has denoted the communal harmony of the city.
