Large number of devotees offer prayers on Perur Patteeswarar temple Kumbabhishekam

The Kumbabhishekam of the historic Perur Patteeswarar Temple in Coimbatore was held today after 14 years, drawing thousands of devotees who participated in the rituals and offered prayers.
The temple, which is over a thousand years old, underwent extensive renovations starting in September 2023, including work on the Vimana Gopuram, Rajagopuram, Moolasthanam, and deities' shrines. The Kumbabhishekam rituals began on February 4 with a Vinayagar Puja, followed by Yagasalai Pujas from February 7. The final consecration ceremony took place this morning, with Maha Kumbabhishekam performed for Patteeswarar, Pachainayaki Amman, Nataraja Peruman, and Dandapani at 10:05 AM.

The event was attended by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, SP Karthikeyan, MP Eeswarasamy, MLA Vanathi Srinivasan, Mayor Ranganayaki, Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan, and religious leaders including Perur Aatheenam Thavathiru Shanthalinga Adikalar and Gaumara Monastery Kumaragurupara Swamigal.
In the evening, a grand Thirumanjanam, Thirukalyanam, and a procession of Pancha Moorthis will take place. Given the large crowd, 1,000 police personnel were deployed for security, and a one-day holiday was declared for schools and colleges in Perur taluk. The district administration also ordered the closure of liquor shops in the area for the day.
