LBP ayacut ryots threaten to start indefinite fast

Lower Bavani Project (LBP) canal ayacut ryots association threatened to start an indefinite fast if the district administration didn't oblige to the HC order fully in carrying out the ongoing LBP canal modernisation work as agreed by the government.
The association at its meeting held at  Othakadai on Wednesday cited that the complaint of the ryots in Modakurichi, Sivagiri and Kadathur police stations against those who prevented the works and who damaged the machineries were not accepted though the HC ordered due protection to the contractors to carry out the work. As the work should be completed within 3 months, the district administration should cooperate to the HC order in carrying out the works speedily. Lest, the ryots would start indefinite stir, it said. Former ministers Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, PC Ramasamy, former MLA RM Palanisamy, ryots association leaders Ramaswamy, Eswaramurthy, Velumani, S. Periyasamy, K.V.Ponnaiyan, Shanmugaraj, Arumugam, Somasundaram, Duraisamy, Gopal, and Rasu attended.
