Lemon price up steeply

Erode VOC market used to receive 4 tonnes of lemon daily from places like Tenkasi, Bangalore and Dindigul.  Last month, a lemon sold for Rs 3 to Rs 7. 

Lemon prices have been rising for the past 10 days as demand has been rising due to temple festivals and hot summer season.  

On Friday, the market received only a ton of lemon fruit from Tenkasi and Bangalore and sold for aprice of Rs 250. 

 A lemon was sold at a price of Rs 7 to Rs 15.  
As a result, traders said the lemon fruit trade has been sluggish for the past few days.
