The leprosy Mission Trust India has organised an artificial limb fitment and distribution camp at its office in Chidambaram.There are about 40 people who lost their legs due to leprosy, diabetes and road traffic accident got benefit by receiving the artificial legs worth Rs 3.2 lakh. G.Manivannan, senior occupational therapist who led the community project explained the services offered by the trust and self care practices and the importance of using artificial limbs. The trust was one of the pioneer in making 3D printed orthosis and adaptive devices for the people affected by leprosy in the country.
Leprosy Mission's Inclusive empowerment project manufacturing computerised 3D insoles for the leprosy patients. The president of Chidambaram Lions club Mr. C. Elangovan was the chief guest and distributed the artificial limbs to the beneficiaries The founder of Grace Orthotics Mr. N. Prakash and his team from Chennai provided technical assistance for the camp.
