Sunita Williams, of Indian descent and a NASA astronaut, continues to face difficulties returning to Earth from the International Space Station. Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore went to space on June 5th in the Boeing Starliner spacecraft for an eight-day mission but have been stationed there for over two and a half months. Due to technical issues with the spacecraft, they have not been able to return yet.
NASA, still confident in the Boeing Starliner, has stated that it can be used to return to Earth in emergency situations, and a decision on their return will be made by the end of August. The Boeing Starliner is designed to stay in space for up to 210 days and then autonomously return and land on Earth.
To ensure a safe landing, the Starliner must be properly stabilized. NASA scientists have not ruled out the possibility of dangerous consequences if anything goes wrong. With hope for success in this challenging task, scientists are working day and night under intense monitoring.
Not just America, but the whole world is waiting with the hope that Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore will return safely to Earth. Let us pray for the success of NASA's efforts and for the safe return of both astronauts!
