Madurai bench transfers a petition against Senthil Balaji to Chennai

The Madurai bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday transferred a petition filed seeking removal of arrested minister Senthil Balaji from the cabinet to Chennai bench as a similar case was already pending before the Court.
An advocate Shanmugasundaram from Pudukkottai district has moved the Court seeking removal of Senthil Balaji from the cabinet.
The minister was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case a few days ago. Subsequently, his portfolios – electricity and excise – were allocated to two other ministers and at present, he is a minister without portfolio in the cabinet.
Claiming it to be illegal, the advocate has sought the removal of Senthil Balaji from the cabinet. When the petition came up for hearing before a bench comprising Justices Subramanian and Victoria Gowri, they transferred it to the Chennai bench since a similar case was pending before the Court.
