Makkal Sinthanai Peravai's branch was recently started in Japan. Its first program- Bharati's birthday celebration-was held in Tokyo on December 10.
The founder chairman of the Peravai Stalin Gunasekaran delivered a lecture on online. In his speech, he said, "The Peravai branch will act as a bridge of friendship between Japan and Tamil Nadu. The council will also undertake the task of translating the best Japanese language books into Tamil. The Peravai will take up the task of giving life to Bharathi's lines 'translating books of scholars of other countries into Tamil language'.
Bharti's maternal uncle's grand-daughter Uma Sugawanam and great-grand daughter Jayasree Subramaniam also spoke through the internet. Adviser of the Peravai's Japan Branch Kamalakannan, President V Krishnasamy, Vice President S.S. Raja Lakshmi, Japan Tamil scholars M. Ashok V. Arumugam, Ra. Senthil Kumar, Mr. Govindarajan spoke. This is the first time that Bharati festival was held in Tokyo city. Prizes were awarded to meritorious students by the Japan branch of the Peravai.
