Minister denies former CM's charge

Housing Minister S Muthusamy denied the charge of former Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palaniswamy that the government was lethargic in taking precautionary measures to face the flash flood in the Cauvery river.
Inaugurating a 2 day handloom cloth expo arranged by the Handloom department at the Erode Collectorate on Sunday in connection with the

National Handloom Day, he said once it was come to know that over 2 lakh cusecs of water would come from Karnataka in the river, the officers alerted those who were living on low lying areas of the river bed and advised them to go to safe places.

They evacuated many families of Sathy, Bavani and Kodumudi to community halls and were providing food and medical relief to them. At present,  1486 persons
of 474 families were accommodated in 12 camps. Many were already given houses at Ammapet, Chithodu and Bavani areas.

But, due to their fishing and washing activities, they were staying near river. Those who didn't get house sites, would soon get it, he assured. Collector H Krishnaunni  and many officials attended the function.
