Under the Agriculture Department, Food and Nutrition Security Project and Nutri Cereals Project are being implemented in Erode District at a cost of Rs 91.8 Lakhs, Housing Minister S Muthuswamy said.
He flagged off four campaign vehicles at Erode District Collectorate under the scheme. It will create awareness about minor millets like sorghum, ragi, kudiraivali etc among people. It will run in 80 locations.
Out of Rs 91.8 lakh, Rs16 lakh will be used for this campaign
In these vehicles, details of minor millets' features, subsidy details, crop protection, maize crop pest control methods etc are displayed. Loudspeaker advertisements will also be made about minor millets. Pamphlets will be given to the farmers in this regard.
These vehicles will go to all 14 blocks in the district. Out of Rs 91.8 lakh, Rs16 lakh will be used for this campaign and the rest will be given as subsidy to the farmers to buy inputs to raise minor millet crops, he added.
