A private sector employment camp was organized by the District Employment and Career Guidance Center at a private college auditorium in the Nava India area of Coimbatore. The event witnessed the participation of thousands of graduates seeking employment opportunities. Minister for Electricity Senthil Balaji attended the event and handed over job orders to selected graduates.
In his keynote address, Minister Senthil Balaji highlighted that since the DMK government took charge, over 2,43,700 individuals have been appointed to various jobs. He further mentioned that they expected around 10,000 participants in the camp and that companies had committed to offering more than 20,000 jobs.
The Minister pointed out that all ten constituencies in Coimbatore are currently held by opposition parties but emphasized that the Chief Minister works for the benefit of all, regardless of political affiliations. He announced that a library is being constructed in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs. 300 crore, which is set to be inaugurated this year. Additionally, 80% of the work on the Semmozhi Park, a Rs. 167 crore project, has been completed.
He also shared that 4,61,000 women in Coimbatore are benefitting from the women’s rights scheme, and that free travel for women in the city has amounted to Rs. 98 crore so far. Encouraging graduates to make the most of the employment camp, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating job opportunities.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Senthil Balaji described the employment camp as a bridge between job seekers and employers. He also announced that Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin would arrive in Coimbatore the next day at 11 AM to participate in various events, including a forest department program, the inauguration of completed projects, laying the foundation stone for new initiatives, and providing welfare assistance.
Addressing concerns about electricity supply, Senthil Balaji assured that Tamil Nadu has surplus electricity, and any additional demand during the summer has been secured through tenders. He criticized the AIADMK and BJP for politicizing temporary power issues caused by extreme heat and assured that adequate personnel had been deployed to address any problems.
He further elaborated on Tamil Nadu’s ambitious electricity projects, stating that the state is working on setting up a 7,000 MW thermal plant, a 14,500 MW pumped storage project, and a 2,000 MW battery storage project. He emphasized that the Chief Minister’s developmental initiatives aim to make Tamil Nadu self-sufficient in energy.
Responding to a query regarding the BJP’s black flag protest, he dismissed it, referring to past statements by BJP Tamil Nadu Chief K Annamalai about liquor prohibition.
He accused the BJP of making contradictory statements in 2023 and 2024 and asked reporters not to waste time on questions raised by those spreading misinformation.
Lastly, Senthil Balaji reiterated that constituency delimitation would be a great injustice to Tamil Nadu. He warned that reducing the state’s representation in Parliament would weaken its voice in Delhi, making it difficult to secure fair policies and resources. He asserted that Chief Minister MK Stalin is leading the fight to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu voters and that political leaders from other states have also extended their support to this cause.
