On behalf of the government, the biography of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi "Writer Artist Muthamil Ther" Tableau came to Erode today.
It was welcomed by the Housing Minister S Muthusamy, Collector Rajagopal Sunkara, Corporation Commissioner Sivakarthikeyan, Mayor Nagarathinam Subramaniam and Deputy Mayor Selvaraj near Erode Kamaraj Corporation HSS on Thursday.
Students of the school visited the vehicle and inspected the photos, books, life history of late leader and works of him to the society. It came from Tirupur and went to Karur district in the evening. In Erode, it stayed for full day to help public and students of 8 zones of Erode Corporation to visit the tableau with allotment of separate time for each zone.
Later, talking to newsmen, Muthusamy said that the tableau was arranged to celebrate Kalaignar's birth centenary. It helps public know the services of Kalaignar to the nation, and literary works of him.
To the queries of press, he said that after getting a full report of a committee constituted by the government on selling introducing liquor through tetra packs of TASMAC, it would be submitted to the HC and after getting its view, the tetra packs would be introduced.
Tetrapacks would not cause pollution problem. Now the committee is collecting details of Tetrapacks in other states. The government is not intended to increase the sales of liquor.
In fact, it wanted to reduce its consumption. During Diwali, people themselves consume liquor for fun. We didn't promote sales on that day. We check opening of liquor shops in advance and take action on the shopkeepers who indulge in illegal sales. We will consider the demand of reducing liquor shops, he added.
