Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin who is in Kerala to participate in Southern regional council meet, met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday and shared a document comprising a list of proposed schemes for the welfare of both the states.
He also discussed the never-ending Mullaperiyar dam issue with his counterpart. Southern regional states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep Islands, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Kerala and Karnataka would participate in the annual regional council meeting, conducted by the union government, to discuss the issues occurring between neighbouring states in detail. Issues like law and order issues, infrastructures, sanitation, women safety, water dispute and border issues.
Chief secretary Irai Anbu, secretaries to the CM Udhayachandran and Anu George have accompanied the Chief Minister to the meet. The Chief Minister was received by information technology and digital services department minister Mano Thangaraj and Nagercoil mayor Mahesh at Thiruvananthapuram airport.
While meeting his counterpart, Stalin gifted a book titled ‘The Dravidian model’ to him and shared a document comprising a list of proposed schemes for the welfare of both the states. He also discussed the issues concerning Mullaperiyar dam, strengthening of baby dam, Siruvani reservoir and Neyyaru. The meeting is a follow up of water resource department secretaries of both the states.
