Motur, a village located about 20 kilometers from Yercaud and falling under the Vellakkadai Panchayat, is home to more than a hundred daily commuters, including school children, college students, and those traveling to work in Yercaud.
However, these residents face significant challenges due to the limited availability of transportation. Currently, only one government bus with 36 seats operates between Yercaud and the village.
This inadequate transport service forces all passengers, including the elderly and young children, to crowd into the single bus.
With insufficient seating, many are left hanging precariously on the bus steps, particularly school children, creating a dangerous situation.
The narrow mountain roads further exacerbate the risk of accidents for those traveling this way.
Residents of Motur are urging the government to take immediate action and provide additional buses to alleviate the overcrowding and ensure the safety of the mountain village’s commuters before any unfortunate incidents occur.
