Narikuravars helped to produce value added jewels

Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Movement and Women's Project helped Narikuravar families to produce artificial jewelery making to get more income.Collector H.Krishnanunni instructed all the government projects should meet the livelihood needs of the marginalized people.  On that basis, 70 families belonging to the 'Narikkuravar' community, living at MGR Nagar in Kumarapalayam Panchayat, Sathy, got vocational training. Women between 18 and 45 years of age were given the training to produce community-based business of making artificial  jewellery by using beads. 

Self-Employment Training 

Erode District Rural Self-Employment Training Institute offered training at the Village Public Service Center in their area for 13 days from Nov 12. It was inaugurated by Collector. Before the training, a beads garland was sold at Rs.60. But,  now, through the training, they are converting it into a value-added product and getting an additional market value of Rs.150 to 200. Also, they were given certificates of training provided by the government. 

Also, efforts are being made to provide loans through banks for the production of ornaments to them and to organize women into self-help groups to get all the assistance provided by the community investment fund and the government. Therefore, as per the instructions of the Governor of Erode District, measures are being taken to improve the livelihood of such marginalized people, officials said.
