Navaratri doll Expo begins at Poompuhar Showroom

Navaratri Kolu doll expo cum and sale at Tamil Nadu Government's Poompuhar showroom at Mettur Road Erode began on Tuesday and the expo will be held till Oct 6, said G Saravanan, manager of the showroom.

Over Rs 10 lakh worth different kind of dolls made up of paper mache and clay came from Kanchipuram and Kolkatta and other parts of TN.  Apart from this the showroom already has many beautiful and exquisitively designed handicrafts, made up of metals, wood, marble powder etc.This year's sales target of the expo is Rs.12 lakhs. 

Last year Rs.8 lakh worth of dolls were sold. For Navratri Kolu festival,  many dolls of  Ramayana, Mahabharata, Rajarajeshwari, Kumbakarnan, marriage, uzhavan sets, Gods etc came for sales.  The cost of dolls are ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 20000.  Ten cent price discount will be given for Navaratri dolls and all credit and debit cards be accepted, he added.
