The Cauvery Mobile Book Fair, organized by the National Book Trust (NBT) of the Union Ministry of Education for the first time, visited Erode yesterday. The fair is being organized in the name of 3 major Indian rivers namely Cauveri, Ganga and Godavari. The Cauvery fair started at Kudagu, origin of Cauvery in Karnataka, on Sept 10, and is going to end at Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu on Oct 26.
This mobile book fair bus was flagged off by Makkal Sindhanai Peravai state president and lawyer T Stalin Gunasekaran near Erode Corporation in the presence of many students of Vellalar College for Women. The book fair will go along the Cauvery flowing districts- Namakkal, Salem, Trichy, Thanjavur, and reach Mayiladuthurai.
The fair has books of 1000 titles, printed by NBT. 10 percent price discount is given for all books. Around Rs 5 lakh worth books were sold in the fair since Sept 10 to till date, the fair officials said.
