The All India NCC (Girls) Trek (Tamil Nadu Trek) which is an annual feature commenced on April 27 at the premises of CSI College of Engg, Ketti, CSI CMM HSS Udhagamandalam, and GHSS Nanjanadu. NCC girl cadets, drawn from various parts of the country, are trekking a distance of approximately 80 kms passing through two staging camps and a Base Camp for a period of 08 days. A total strength of 1020 Trekkers are participating in the said trek.
2. The first batch of trek consisting of 03 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and 102 girls from Kerala was flagged off on 28 Apr 2023 at Staging Camp-II GHSS Nanjanadu by Col A Srinivas, Camp Commandant and Officer Commanding 31 (TN) Indep Coy NCC, Ooty.
3. The second & fifth batches of trek consisting of 03 ANOs 102 girls each from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu was flagged off on 28 Apr 2023 at Base Camp CSI College of Engg, Ketti by Lt Col JM Joshi, Commanding Officer, 5 (TN) Girls Bn NCC, Coimbatore.
4. The third & fourth batches of trek consisting of 03 ANOs 102 girls each from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh was flagged off on 28 Apr 2023 at CSI CMM HSS, Udhagamandalam by Col E Tamang, Officer Commanding, 2 (TN) CTC NCC, Coimbatore.
5. During the trek the cadets were given an opportunity to visit the Radio Astronomy Centre, Tribal Museum, Botanical Garden etc.
6. The Trekking camp is organised under the aegis of NCC Group, Coimbatore by Col BVS Shiva Rao, Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Coimbatore. Base camp has been set up by 5 (TN) Girls Bn NCC, Coimbatore, Staging Camp-I by 2 (TN) CTC NCC, Coimbatore whereas Staging Camp-II has been set up by 31 (TN) Indep Coy NCC, Ooty.
7. Cmde Atul Kumar Rastogi, Deputy Director General, NCC Dte (TN,P&AN), Chennai also visited the camp sites and did trekking with the cadets on 30 Apr and 01 May 2023.
