Need advanced technology for India's meteorological services

The Kerala Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan has quoted statistics and exposed that the Indian Meteorological Department had failed to accurately predict the landslide in Wayanad.
``The information provided by the Indian Meteorological Department is not clear. You have only given orange alert.. You have not given any clear notification about the landslide".
Nellai and Thoothukudi experienced unprecedented rainfall in December last year. Kayalpatnam received 95 cm of rain in a single day. Flooding in the Tamiraparani river flooded the coastal villages.
The Tamil Nadu government had  accused the Indian Meteorological Department for failing to predict the heavy rains in South Tamil Nadu.
Now the Indian Meteorological Department has once again failed to accurately predict the Wayanad landslide, according to critics and the  Chief  Minister of Kerala.
Some countries, including the United States, are said to be using highly effective technology to predict natural disasters months in advance.
Even though the central government says that the technology we have is enough, getting it wrong in weather forecasting is like playing with precious lives.
There will be no hindrance for India to acquire high technology from friendly countries. Central and state governments should avoid blaming each other and modernize the India Meteorological Department further.
We must have advanced technology that can provide accurate information about storms, rains and landslides to the people.
The central government should take immediate action to ensure that another incident like the Wayanad landslide does not take place!
