No cases of Monkeypox reported in Tamil Nadu, says Health Minister

No cases of Monkeypox have been reported in the state till date, said the state health minister Ma Subramanian in the city. 


While speaking to reporters after inaugurating a camp for early detection of cancer for women at the government hospital in Saidapet, the minister said that works are being carried out to construct Anna cancer research institute in Kanchipuram and it would be inaugurated within a year. 


“Measures to prevent monkeypox are going on in full swing at the airports in Madurai, Chennai, Trichy and Coimbatore. All those who return from foreign countries are being screened for the infection,” he added. 


As many as ten beds are allocated to treat patients infected with monkeypox in all the districts that have an international airport and doctors team are kept ready to treat the patients anytime, he said and advised the public not to panic as the state has not reported any cases so far.
