NSS volunteers attend National Adventure Camp

More than 70 NSS volunteers from several parts of the country took part in a ten-day-long national adventure camp organized at High Altitude Trekking and Skiing Centre of Atal Bihari Vajpayee  Institute of Mountaineering in Himachal Pradesh’s Narkanda from November 6 to 15. The camp was organized by the union ministry of youth affairs and sports and NSS regional directorate.

The Tamil Nadu team was led by the contingent leader Dr S Prahadeeshwaran, NSS program officer of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore. About 10 NSS volunteers from Bharathiar University also participated. 

NSS program 

 The volunteers learned and experienced tent pitching, rock  climbing, valley crossing and mountain rescue activities among others. The participants had their confidence boosted and had the opportunity to increase their leadership capabilities.

The volunteers met the union minister L Murugan and shared their adventure training, thrilling experiences and NSS experience.  He interacted with the volunteers and asked about their activities in the camp and congratulated the entire team for participating in the trekking event.
