Omar faces tough battle in home turf amid multiple contenders

The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Assembly Elections will take place on September 18, 25, and October 1. The Abdullah family has held a stronghold in the region since the 1970s, with Umar Abdullah becoming Chief Minister in 2008. Genderbal is the stronghold constituency of the Abdullah family.
Umar Abdullah is contesting in this constituency in the upcoming assembly elections and it has received a lot of attention. Bashir Mir is contesting as the People's Democratic Party candidate against Umar Abdullah. Bashir Mir, who contested from the Kangan constituency in the 2014 elections, created a tough competition for National Conference Party candidate Mian Altaf. Also, Ishfaq Jabbar, who won this constituency as a National Conference Party candidate in 2014, has left the party this time and is contesting as an independent.
There is also a possibility that Jabbar could split the votes of the National Conference. And the former president of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Ashiq, also sees the field. Engineer Rasheed, who has emerged as a major challenger in Jammu and Kashmir, is contesting as the candidate of Sheikh Aziq. Rasheed was the one who defeated Umar Abdullah as an independent candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from all this, the jailed terrorist Bargadi is also contesting in this constituency.
Can the Abdullah family win the Ganderbal constituency as easily as in the past? Will Omar Abdullah overcome all these challenges and win? Will grandson Umar Abdullah fly the flag of victory in his grandfather's fort? It will be known on
October 8!
