One killed after a truck blasted

One killed and one injured after a container truck blasted while carrying out maintenance work near Malumichampatti in the city outskirts on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Wakil, a worker at the workshop and a native of Uttar Pradesh and the injured was identified as Ravi, a worker. He was admitted to the government hospital for treatment. According to sources, the container was used to carry chemicals. In the morning hours, the truck was brought to the workshop that belonged to one Shanmugam. The owner had asked five of his workers - all natives of Uttar Pradesh - to carry out welding work at the truck. While carrying out the works, the truck has blasted unexpectedly. While Wakil died on the spot, Ravi sustained serious injuries. Alerted, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the deceased. It was sent for autopsy to CMCH. Police registered a case and are further investigating the case.
