Online Gambling: Shock given by the Union Government!

Various parties are giving opinions and various complaints are made that online rummy online games are causing great harm. Such complaints continue across India.Especially in online rummy we are seeing cases where many people have lost money and even committed suicide. The state governments are taking steps to control it.

State governments in particular including Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala have issued orders against online rummy. Following this, the Union Government's decision to formulate uniform regulations regarding online games has shocked the public.

The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has announced that it will act as the nodal agency to regulate and monitor online gaming in India. State governments cannot take any decision against online rummy as the Union government acts as the nodal agency for online gaming.

It is now in the hands of the Union Government to control and ban it. Many people were shocked by this decision. Online game companies have welcomed the Union Government to act as a nodal agency.

The Union Government has taken such a decision when Tamil Nadu Governor R.N Ravi has not approved the Online Gambling Prohibition Bill. The Union Government has just decided. It is not known when the consultation will be carried out and it will become a law.

Similarly, even if the Union Government enacts a single law across the country, there is a doubt in people's minds that it will be in favor of online gaming companies. What is the way to prevent suicides? Why this dilemma to eliminate online gambling? Banning  online rummy for now seems as a mirage.
