Ooty Collector inspects school vehicles

In the Nilgiris district, a survey event on safety of school vehicles was organized by District Transport Office in the presence of 
Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Thanneeru at the Udagai Government Arts College Sports Ground on  Wednesday.
Later, the District Collector told reporters:
Safety facilities in the school vehicles used to transport students to school in the Nilgiris district were inspected today. Also, the security facilities of 171 vehicles belonging to 48 schools that take children to school in Ooty circle areas were inspected.
The school vehicles were inspected to see if the fire extinguisher, first aid kit, emergency route and condition of the vehicle were in good condition and whether the vehicle's qualification certificate, books etc. were properly maintained.
Also, it has been advised that if the school vehicle has some lack of facilities or safety deficiencies, they should be rectified before the opening of the schools and they should be shown for inspection again. Similarly, inspection of 96 vehicles belonging to 17 schools of Coonoor and Kotagiri areas will be carried out on 09.05.2025. Already on 28.04.2025, 86 vehicles belonging to 27 schools have been inspected in Gudalur area.
