As many as 24 rank holders and 1165 students received their degree certificates during the 15th graduation day ceremony of Kongunadu arts and science college that took place at the college premises on Saturday.
SP Thyagarajan, chancellor of Avinashilingam institute for home science and higher education for women, who took part as the chief guest of the ceremony, spoke about the effective implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in colleges.
He traced the evidence of this multidisciplinary policy way back in the great ancient Indian Universities including Nalanda and Takshashila. He also pointed out that the great educational system and cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu which existed 2000 years ago and continued through different dynasties and brought the evolution of a unique Dravidian culture that Tamil Nadu symbolizes today.
He gave a detailed discourse on the objectives and the role of NEP and its multidisciplinary approaches that focus towards research and development, innovation, and incubation leading to the economic development of the country and lead to the global attributions. While delivering the presidential address, CA Vasuki, secretary and director of the college congratulated the graduates. She said that the NEP is enriching the students’ study skills. She concluded her remarkable speech with a quote from Ratan Tata and insisted that the “good education should lead the young graduates to the path of humanity, honesty and integrity.” M Lekeshmanaswamy, principal formally declared open the graduation day ceremony and presented a report on the academic activities of the College.
