Parents picket Govt school for poor condition of class room building

Many parents picketed  Masimalai Rangasamy Goundar Govt Girls School at Periyakuttaimedu,  Veerappanchatram, Erode, for the second day on Tuesday demanding demolition of old classroom buildings in the school and reconstruction of them as the cement sunshade of a building collapsed on Sunday. 

Luckily, students, studying 6th to 8th std, escaped from any mishap due to holiday. On hearing some parents staged stir in the school seeking demolition of old buildings.


On Tuesday morning,  parents of more than 50 students gathered in front of the main Government Girls' HSS in Sathi Road regarding the issue and entered into argument with Jayanthi, the headmistress of the school.

Then the parents said that the building of the school should be upgraded.  Until then, the students should be kept in the classrooms of the alternate building.  They said that toilet facilities should be provided.


She told them high officials of the education department and local minister have been informed about the upgradation of the building and carrying out the repair work. She said that steps will be taken to start the work in the next 15 days. 

 The parents of the students, who were satisfied with this, left the place.  The incident caused a stir in the area for a while.
