Plan to convert trains for rich commuters condemned

 It is shocking to hear that only two second-class coaches would be available in trains in the II class, which is the main source of travel for the common people, and convert all other coaches into air-conditioned coaches, said TMC leader and former member of Southern Railway and Salem Divisional Railway Advisory Board Gowthaman.

He said it is not only a move to help rich commuters, but also a strategy to push the railway sector towards total privatisation. Ordinary people who use the 2nd class in trains for its low fare would suffer much if the plan is enforced as the fare in buses is much high. People's representatives should strongly oppose this plan and stop it immediately, by starting massive stir. Already, privatization move of train services was already commenced, he noted.
