Plan to transport Water from PAP to Ottanchathram opposed

BJP farmers wing state president GK Nagaraj pleaded to the government to cancel a plan to carry water from Parambikulam-Azhiyar Irrigation project  (PAP) to Ottanchatram.

 He said sufficient drinking water is already being supplied to Dindigul district from the Cauvery while the PAP irrigation scheme is running dry without irrigation facilities. 

So, alternative drinking water arrangements for Ottanchatram should be considered. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has the duty to clear the doubt of the farmers that whether there are any plan to use the water for commercial purposes by transporting water from Azhiyar, which is already suffering from severe famine.

 Therefore, PAP farmers took out a massive rally at Tirupur on Sunday to press the government to cancel the plan to carry water from PAP to Ottanchathram  he added.
