Plea to grant housesite pattas to 2500 houses

Erode Corporation AIADMK ex-councillor KS Gopal appealed to the government to grant pattas for 2500 houses in the Karungalpalayam area, Erode. In this connection, he submitted a petition to the Housing Minister S Muthusamy at Erode informing that the houses were existed for over 100 years and the house owners were remitting property, water, professional taxes, power tariff with having Voter, Aadhar card etc.

 They sell and buy the houses through registration departments.  But, in the revenue records, the land was classified as government Natham poromboke land. So,the revenue officials refused to give land pattas for the lands depite many petitions submitted to varoius officials, collectors and ministers during the past 3 decades. During the previous AIADMK rule, pattas were given to nearly 2000 houses in the area. But, unfortunately, over 2500 houses didn't yet get pattas.

So, there is constant fear among the residents that if need be the government would evict them by citing any reason for taking over the land for public purpose. The issue was taken up to the knowledge of Revenue Minister KKSSR Ramachandran last year itself. 

The CM MK Stalin, during his poll campaign in the Erode East assembly by-election last month, assured to give pattas to 13000 houses of similar nature in the town including at Karungalpalayam after the election process. The vote on account of revenue department is going to be presented in the Assembly on April 6. So, the issue should be taken up-to the knowledge of the CM to make an announcement on the issue on that day to help people get the house pattas without delay, he pleaded.
