Plea to introduce Free Insurance Scheme for Drivers

Plea to introduce Free Insurance Scheme for Drivers

Tamil Nadu All District Drivers and Unorganized Workers Union  pleaded to the government to introduce a free insurance scheme for all drivers and workers in the field.
Housing Minister S Muthusamy  inaugurated the association's medical camp here on Sunday.
Association state president Muthu Kumar said that all types of drivers spend thousands of rupees to get driving licenses and badges and out of that fee,  the government can take a small portion and implement a free accident insurance scheme for drivers.
The drivers should take rest at home hospital until they get cured after accident. The bus, lorry, call taxi, auto owners do not  help them until they recover.
As their families are facing a lot of trouble in case of accident or death the government should help them during medical treatment and death.
As the assistance given to the families in case of death or physical disability by the unorganized welfare board is very less,it should also be increased. The employers should be ordered to implement the statutory benefits like ESI PF to the drivers and workers. At present they are working without any social security scheme.Accidents can be controlled under the new MV Act.
But, unnecessary roadblocks on highways cause accidents and they should be removed. Truck drivers from Tamil Nadu should be prevented from being attacked by anti-social elements while travelling to other states.
Taxi drivers are being attacked and hijacked in some places in Tamil Nadu.
So, proper security should be provided to them.Association honorary president Saravanan, Secretary Vadivel and many others were present.
