Pledge to eliminate child marriage

Tamil Nadu villages have organized awareness programs to eliminate child marriage. The campaign, led by women activists and 160 civil society organizations, aims to end child marriage in India by 2030. A new book, titled ‘When Children Have Children: Tipping Point To End Child Marriage,’ provides a blueprint on how to achieve this goal. Child marriage has consequences such as child rape, pregnancy, and death. The National Family Health Survey-V reports that 23.3% of women between the age group of 20-24 were married off before attaining the age of 18 in Tamil Nadu. With the overwhelming response to the campaign, India is on the anvil of creating history and ensuring children's rights are ensured and protected.
