Pollan memorial hall to be built at a cost of Rs 2.60 cr : Minister

The 254th birthday of Maveeran Pollan, who served as a commander of Kongu zone freedom fighter Theeran Chinnamalai, was celebrated today as a government function at Modakurichi Community Hall. 

Ministers S Muthusamy and Dr Madhivendan offered floral tribute to Pollan's portrait. Then, Muthusamy said Pollan Memorial will be built at  Jayaramapuram area at a cost of Rs 2.60 cr. For this,47 cents of land has been identified. 

Within a year the memorial will be built.  There were some defects in some places in distribution of pongal gift last year. Many found fault on the government for such defect. So, the Chief Minister has ordered to provide Rs 1,000 with  rice, sugar for the current year. With this money, the public can buy sugarcane and other products as per their wish. 

The ryots would sell it in the market. Public would buy it out of the money. So, farmers would not likely to be affected. The money would help public to buy goods, cloth and cane according to their wish, he added.
