Post-centennial diamond jubilee, Founder’s Day of Stanes school observed

Students and staff of Stanes Anglo-Indian higher secondary school in the city celebrated the post-centennial diamond jubilee and Founder’s Day of the school at the school premises on Saturday.Retired vice principal of Hebron school in Ooty, Thomas George, took part in the event as the chief guest, while GD Gopal, managing trustee of GD Naidu charities and chairman of GD schools and Chandra Gopal, correspondent of GD schools attended the event as guest of honours.

George, in his address, emphasized the importance of positive thinking. He said, “Thoughts run one's life.  We become what we believe. So, we are the sum of our thoughts.  We should not become victims of anxious thoughts but dwell in peace that surpasses understanding.”

Sir Robert Stanes Life Time Achievement Award 

Staff who completed 25 years of service in the school, were bestowed with ’25 years’ service award’. Governing board members were honoured with special awards in recognition of their service.‘The Sir Robert Stanes Life Time Achievement Award’ instituted by the past students association, was bestowed to GD Gopal, alumina of the school.

In his acceptance speech, Gopal lauded the institution and shared fond memories of his father's association with Sir Robert Stanes, who was also considered the founder of the industrial city of Coimbatore.While principal S Selene Vinodhini welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest, vice principal V Divakaran delivered vote of thanks.
