President Murmu visits Vivekanandar centre

President Droupadi Murmu visited Vivekanandar centre in the district on a ferry on Saturday. Murmu who has visited Kerala to take part in numerous programmes, has paid a one-day visit to Tamil Nadu. This is her second visit to the state after assuming charge as the president.

She had travelled from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari in a helicopter. In Kanyakumari, she was received by Governor RN Ravi, minister Mano Thangaraj, DGP Sylendra Babu and collector Sridhar. From there, she travelled to Poompuhar shipping corporation Dockyard by car. She travelled on a ferry to the Vivekanandar centre. She paid floral tribute to Vivekanandar’s statue and then visited Tiruvalluvar statue.

Murmu is scheduled to visit Vivekananda Kendra and Bharat Matha temple before returning to her guest house. Police protection has intensified in the district and tourists were restricted from visiting various tourists’ spots.
