Progress of Central govt projects reviewed

Various Central government projects were reviewed at the Collectorate on  Tuesday. Collector 
H Krishnanunni,  MPs, local body leaders and officials of various departments attended. 


Officials said administrative sanction has been granted to construct 2339 flats at an estimated cost of Rs. 392 crore under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme in Erode district.  Steps are being taken to lay roads under PM road project to link all the hamlets with rural and agricultural markets, mandi, high schools, colleges and hospitals,  veterinary hospitals. 


Rs 495.71 crore has been provided to the Women's Self Help Groups  under the National Rural and the Urban Livelihoods Programme.  

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kavusalya Yojana has provided skills development with job to 820 rural youth.

 Under the Smart City project in Erode Corporation, Rs.  964.84 crore allotted for 54 project works and 17 works were completed at a cost of Rs.  271.66 crore.  Garbage biomining extraction work is being done in  Gobi, Bhavani, Sathy and Punchaipuliyampatti municipalities. 1184 houses have been completed on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Urban Housing Development Board under the Housing for All scheme.  In addition, 7362 houses have been completed under the Beneficiary Self Funding Scheme.  Various measures are being taken to transform Town Panchayats into clean Panchayats with providing toilets to all houses and all 42 Panchayats were declared as open dedication free units.  

 Under the MGR Noonmeal scheme, 1,20,405 children are provided food in 1,327 nutrition centers.   Under the Integrated Child Development Program, various programs are being implemented for children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and adolescent girls. 


7,62,989 family cardholders are benefiting under the National Food Security Program.  Adequate stocks of food items are also kept under the Public Distribution Scheme.  Under the Social Security Scheme, 85,460 persons have been provided with the Indira Gandhi National Retirement Pension, Widow's Pension and Disability Pension.  All urban land records and village landscapes have been computerized and made available online under the National Land Records Modernization Program.  1924 beneficiaries have benefited under the National Agricultural Development Plan.
